It is not currently known that Volkswagen makes its own brand of sausages curry flavoured named “currywurst” and yet, have been making them almost from the very beginning of their business, back in 1938 when the company provided employees with food and accommodation.
Volkswagen not only supplies this delicatessen throughout their factory canteens, they even sell them in German Supermarkets broaden its range of other food products like its own branded ketchup.

And the surprising part of all the story, is that this activity is not just a small source of income for the brand, actually last year Volkswagen sold nearly five million sausages (precisely 4.84 million). This figure is not bad, when compared with 8.36 million vehicles sold in 2011 when they became the first automotive group in the world. The Volkswagen sausages plant is located in Wolfsburg.
Their banded ketchup is also a commercial success, with as many as 425,000 bottles sold in 2009. Furthermore, within the group, one of its divisions with more cache, Audi, came to have its own sausages version, called Weisswurst. Isn’t it that cool!
